A man resident of Delhi's Roop Nagar has been arrested for allegedly duping people after promising them high monthly rent for their shops. The accused used to resell the shops secretly which was already alloted to the buyers.
Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Delhi Police has arrested a man for allegedly duping people by reselling the shops already sold to them. The accused used to first lure the buyers on the pretext of high monthly rent for their shops, following which he used to resell the shops secretly.
The accused has been identified as Harpreet Singh, a resident of Roop Nagar, Delhi.
The matter came to light when the complainant, Manoj Kumar Gupta, approached police alleging that in 2007, he booked a shop in ‘Millenium Mall’ situated at Vasundhra Ghaziabad U.P which was being developed by VXL Realtors private Ltd. He paid the entire amount of Rs 7,29,960 for the shop.
However, in 2008, the builder offered the complainant to take his shop on rent, following which he took the complainant’s shop on lease. Initially, the accused paid the rent on time but started delaying it after a while.
Joint CP EOW Chhaya Sharma said "The builder neither paid rent nor gave possession of the shop back to the complainant and hence the victim was defrauded of Rs 30 lakhs. Similarly, two more victims filed complaints with similar allegations.
During the enquiry, it was found that despite entering into agreement regarding the sale of commercial spaces and shops with the complainants, the alleged company M/s VXL Realtors Private Ltd. secretly executed a sale deed of the victims' properties with M/s Pyramid Finmart Pvt. Ltd and M/s Pyramid prop mart.
It was further revealed that the prime accused, Prabhjeet Singh, who is the brother-in-law of accused Harpreet Singh, is also a director of the company and played an active role in the fraud. Both of them used to lure victims to invest in the project and further enticed them on the pretext of giving a high rental income.
