BSF foils smuggling attempt in Tripura, seizes valuables worth over Rs 2 crore

BSF has foiled a smuggling attempt in Tripura and recovered valuables worth over Rs 2 crore.
The Tripura unit of Border Security Force (BSF) seized contraband items worth Rs 2.29 crore including 20 kg of marijuana and 29 cattle heads near the Indo-Bangladesh border.
The raid was part of a special operation aimed at nullifying the elements involved in trans-border smuggling. BSF has also seized 10,500 in Bangladesh currency and also apprehended two smugglers.
The accused have been identified as Madhu Data (55) and his associate Pranam Majumdar (35).
On May 14, based on specific intelligence input, the troops of Ex-109 Battalion of BSF conducted a special joint operation along with police and successfully recovered a huge consignment of 102 bundles containing assorted clothing items along with one Omni van, one bike and three mobile phones.
The accused along with seized mobile phones have been handed over to South Tripura Police and the remaining seized items along with the mentioned vehicles have been handed over to Customs for further course of action.
