
BSF apprehends drug peddler with 1.5 kg cannabis in Assam’s Karimganj

The BSF on Friday apprehended a drug peddler in Assam’s Karimganj district and seized 1,640 Yaba tablets and 1.5 kg of cannabis from him.
The Border Security Force (BSF) on Friday seized a huge quantity of contraband drugs and apprehended a drug peddler in Assam’s Karimganj district.
Acting on specific information, BSF personnel launched an operation and intercepted a four-wheeler near Nandapur tri-junction in Bhanga on National Highway 37 in Karimganj district.
After intercepting the vehicle, the Officer-in-Charge of Badarpur police station was informed about the incident and police reached the spot and carried out detailed searching of the vehicle.
During the search, a backpack was recovered from the back seat of the vehicle and seven small, black-coloured packets wrapped in brown tape containing Yaba tablets and two baggies of cannabis were seized.
In all, the seized packets yielded 1,640 Yaba tablets and 1.5 kg of cannabis.
The apprehended person was identified as Abdul Sukkur. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
