BJP MP Hema Malini said that the language Braj should be developed along the lines of Varanasi.
Veteran actor and BJP MP Hema Malini has requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to develop the Braj region along the lines of Varanasi.
Hema Malini, the Member of Parliament from Mathura, told India Today that she had recently met PM Modi and presented him with a memorandum requesting the development of the Braj region.
"Every day, thousands of devotees visit the temples in the Mathura-Vrindavan area. Several temples are in desperate need of conservation and development," she said.
The BJP MP further said that PM Modi has assured her that work on various projects promoting tourist traffic to Mathura will begin soon.
"PM Modi has indicated that steps will be taken soon to develop the Krishna temple circuit in Mathura," said Hema Malini.
Prahalad Agarwal, president of the Agra Tourist Welfare Chamber, also wrote to PM Modi outlining the various issues that devotees face when visiting Mathura.
"Agra is also a part of the Braj region and it should be developed as part of the Braj circuit as Agra is home to the Taj Mahal and popular tourist destinations," said Agarwal.
