South Africa vs India, 1st Test: Mohammed Shami picked up a 5-wicket haul as India came up with a strong response with the ball after they suffered a collapse on Tuesday morning. India went to close of play with a 146-run lead.
As many as 18 wickets fell on Day 3 of the 1st Test between South Africa and India as the SuperSport Park in Centurion proved to be a fast bowlers' paradise. Lungi Ngidi picked up a 6-wicket haul earlier on Tuesday but it was Mohammed Shami's 5-wicket haul that could prove decisive as South Africa were bundled out for 197, falling short of India's first-innings total by 130 runs.
India reached Stumps on Day 3 at 16/1, stretching their lead to 146 runs as they push for a victory even as Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test was washed out due to rain. Mayank Agarwal, who hit a 60 in the first innings, was dismissed for 4 by debutant Marco Jansen towards the close of play. KL Rahul and nightwatchman Shardul Thakur ensured India went to Stumps without any further damage.
