Bottom Bay shines as Al Marri corners Al Mamoura Cup glory

In a fiercely contested battle at the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club’s (QREC) Al Rayyan Park, Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s Bottom Bay (GB) (Oasis Dream) yesterday completed a double landing by winning the Al Mamoura Cup on turf. Jockey Saleh Salem Al Marri rode the Zuhair Mohsen-trained 4YO gelding to a ½-length win in the Class 2 mile for TBs under lights at QREC. Al Marri won the top prize of QR 57,000 for his effort. Earlier in the evening, Al Shaqab Racing’s Al Walid (FR) (Dahess x Al Sarwa) won the Purebred Arabian Conditions class at Al Rayyan Park. Carlos Henrique rode the Alban de Mieulle-trained 8YO horse to a 2-length win in the mile run. Henrique won the top prize of QR 42,750. Sheikh Abdulla Bin Thani Al Thani’s homebred Al Hindi (QA) (Sleeping Indian) completed a double in a Local TB Handicap (70-90) in the third-last race yesterday. JP Guillambert rode the Jassim Ghazali-trained 4YO colt to a 4¾-length win in the 7f run. Guillambert won the top prize of QR 34,200. Injaaz Stud’s Receding Waves (GB) (Dick Turpin x Welanga) won the honours in the Thoroughbred Handicap (75-95) at Al Rayyan Park.
Al Moatasem Al Balushi rode the Ali Al Kubaisi-trained 8YO horse to a ½-length win in the 2200m Class 3 run Abdulhadi Mana Al Hajri’s Monsieur Noir (GB) (Shamardal x Night Frolic) clinched the issue in the Thoroughbred Handicap (70-90) class when Alberto Sanna rode the Stefano Ibidotrained 5YO gelding to a 2¼-length win in the 6f Class 3 run. The Ibrahim Saeed Ibrahim Al Malki-owned and trained In The Night (IRE) (Shamardal) completed a double winning in the Thoroughbred Handicap (0-85) on turf. Tomas Lukasek rode 4YO gelding to a length win in the 1850m Class 4 run. H E Sheikha Iman Bint Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani’s Saad (QA) (Munjiz) bagged the honours in the Local Purebred Arabian Novice Plate on turf at Al Rayyan Park. Lukasek rode the Julian Smarttrained 4YO colt to an impressive 6-length win in the 7f run. Eng. Hassan AliAlabdulmalik’s Main Reef (GB) (Pivotal x Coral Mist) won the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate when Faleh Bughanaim rode the Debbie Mountain-trained 4YO colt to a 2½-length win in the 1850m Class 6 run. Al Ghazali Stud’s Malik (QA) (French Fifteen x Phone The Diva) won the Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate with Soufiane Saadi who rode the Jassim Ghazali-trained 5YO horse to a 2¾-length win in the mile run.
