Book municipal commissioners for deaths during manual scavenging, says Madras High Court

Coming down heavily of Tamil Nadu government for a series of deaths during manual scavenging, Madras High Court has said that municipal commissioner should be booked for culpable homicide in case of such deaths.
Madras High Court on Wednesday came down heavily on Tamil Nadu government for a series of deaths during manual scavenging. Hearing a case filed by the Safai Karamchari Andolan, justices Sanjib Banerjee and Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy said that the state government should book municipal commissioner for culpable homicide in case of future deaths during manual scavenging. Saying that the court was inclined towards finding a permanent solution to the problem, the court asked that the state government should tailor make an equipment which can be used to clean the sewage system or change the current sewage system.More Related News
