Bombay Shaving Company CEO Shantanu Deshpande’s LinkedIn post about the work ethics a fresher should practice has garnered the internet’s ire. The post where he advised freshers to work for 18 hours a day for at least the initial 4-5 years was severely criticised by netizens. Now, Deshpande has shared a ‘final’ post on LinkedIn, apologising for his comment.
“This is my last post on Linkedin. Been a good ride. To those who were hurt by my post - apologies for the same. I recognise the need for nuance and context,” Deshpande wrote in the post. He also went on to express how badly he was called out for his thoughts as his parents received harsh messages from people.
“To those who sent nasty 'your son is a slave owner' messages to my parents and thousands like those - You won,” the post read.

Netizens had mixed reactions regarding Deshpande’s views. While some pointed out that he should have thought before portraying a kind of work-culture that screams of toxicity, others wrote about how he got a bit too much hate.
The issue started when the CEO of Bombay Shaving Company shared a LinkedIn post about asking freshers to dedicate their lives to work only. Deshpande was also called out for discouraging freshers to not give importance to work-life balance in the initial years of one’s career.
