While three thieves have been arrested, the main attacker managed to slip away, for whom a search is underway.
The incident took place in Bokaro where a combined police team of two areas was on the search for bike thieves.
The stolen bike belonged to Inspector Pawan Kumar of Bokaro City Police Station, stolen from Sector 12.
A combined team of Bokaro City Police Station and Sector 12 Police Station began their search for the stolen vehicle. The bike was spotted near Gayghat of Chas area and the cops started looking for the thieves riding it.....
When the police spotted the miscreants, they started shouting in their local dialect, causing a mob to gather around the police officers.
Taking advantage of the distraction, one of the three thieves attacked Pawan Kumar with a knife, after which the mob also laid their hands on the police officers.
