A BJP youth leader was murdered over a land dispute in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur Dehat. Four people, including a minor, have been arrested.
Four people, including a minor, have been arrested in connection with the death of former district vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, Amresh Tiwari (Muni), over a land dispute in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur Dehat district. He was murdered allegedly for protesting against the illegal occupation of government land in the district.
The accused were arrested on Monday and sent to jail, the Kanpur Dehat police have said. The police have also recovered the hammer and a bamboo stick used by the accused.
Superintendent of Police Swapnil Mamgain said late on Saturday night, Amresh Tiwari got into an altercation with a local resident and his family members who were trying to capture a piece of land belonging to a trust of which Tripathi was a member.
Following this, the local resident, identified as Ghanshyam Pal, attacked Tripathi, leading to his death on the spot.
Within 24 hours, the accused were arrested after a case was registered at the Bhognipur police station on the complaint of the brother of the deceased.
Superintendent of Police Swapnil Mamgain said during interrogation, all the accused involved in the murder had confessed to the murder. The accused had also informed the police team about the illegal possession.
