Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Appa Jadhav was allegedly attacked by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers at Narayan Peth in Pune on Wednesday. The video of the attack went viral on social media.
In the video, BJP worker Santosh Kamble and others can be seen thrashing Appa Jadhav while he was sitting in his office. Appa Jadhav later ran away from his office in order to save himself from the assault.
A case has also been registered under IPC sections 452, 146, 147, 149,323, 427, 37(1)(c) and 135 against Santosh Kamble, Akshay Vartade, Subham Dhotre, Vaibhav Kotegar, Pradeep Sasaane and 15 others. Around 20 people had been booked under IPC 1860 and the Bombay Police Act, 1959.
The incident took place two weeks after NCP workers had attacked Maharashtra BJP leader Vinayak Ambekar. On May 14, a group of NCP workers had allegedly slapped Vinayak Ambekar at his office over ‘objectionable’ posted about NCP chief Sharad Pawar on social media.
Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrakant Patil shared the video of NCP workers thrashing Vinayak Ambekar and criticised the incident.
