BJP wins Belagavi City Corporation; experts call it a boost for Bommai

Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar said that the BJP has secured an "unprecedented and historic win" in Belagavi City Corporation polls. On the other hand, Congress said that they are happy with their progress in the local body elections.
On Monday, the election results of the three North Karnataka civic bodies - Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad and Kalaburagi - were announced, which may set the tone for the upcoming Zila and Taluk Panchayat elections as well as for the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) polls.While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) fell short of three seats in the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) to secure a majority, they managed to win the Belagavi City Corporation.In HDMC, the BJP won 39 wards, Congress won 33, and All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) grabbed 3. The Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) and Independent candidates managed 1 and 6 seats, respectively.In Belagavi City Corporation, the BJP secured 36 wards while the Congress only managed 9. Independent candidates won in 12 wards and the AIMIM in 1.In Kalaburagi, the Congress won 27 seats, BJP won 23, JD(S) took 4 and the Independent candidates won 1 seat.More Related News
