Two BJP leaders clashed publicly in Kanpur at an event to lay the foundation stone of Anandeshwar temple corridor.
BJP leader Suresh Awasthi’s displeasure with the comments of MP Satyadev Pachauri led to a war of words during the event. The other party leaders soon intervened and pacified them.
MP Satyadev Pachauri, who was in Kanpur to lay the foundation stone, said that Mayor Pramila Pandey - seated next to him - and District President Sunil Bajaj visit the temple complex every day. “But the Mayor told me that some people do not visit even though they live here,” Pachauri said, naming Suresh Awasthi, who was sitting next to him.
An agitated Awasthi interrupted the MP and asked how he knew whether he was a regular at the place. Soon, the Mayor, Suresh Awasthi and MP Satyadev Pachauri were embroiled in a heated argument.
Sensing the situation to be worsening, several party workers came to pacify the warring leaders. Following this, Pachauri made a U-turn, saying that Suresh Awasthi visits the temple every day. Awasthi, too, retreated and said that the MP made the comments in jest.
