After Uddhav Thackeray resigned from the post of Maha CM yesterday, the BJP lined meetings to decide a future course of action to stake claim to form the next government.
The new chief minister (CM) and deputy CM of Maharashtra are likely to take oath tomorrow, said sources in the rebel group. Sources said that Devendra Fadnavis will attend the National Executive meeting to be held in Hyderabad on July 2 as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
The BJP, which is expected to stake claim to form the next government in Maharashtra following the resignation of Uddhav Thackeray as the CM, will be holding a series of meetings here on Thursday to decide the future course of action.
The party's state in-charge, C T Ravi, who arrived in Mumbai on Thursday morning will attend a meeting at 'Sagar' bungalow, the official residence of Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis with senior party leaders, including its state chief Chandrakant Patil, sources said. The BJP has also asked all of its MLAs to remain in Mumbai city till the next steps are taken, they said.
Uddhav Thackeray had resigned soon after the Supreme Court refused to stay Governor B S Koshyari's direction to his government to take a floor test in the Assembly on Thursday. His resignation came after over a week-long drama of resort politics started by rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde.
