BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday demanded an apology from TMC MP Mahua Moitra for her comments on Goddess Kali.
BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday said the protest against TMC's Mahua Moitra will continue till she apologises for her remark on goddess Kali.
Adhikari, also the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, said that hundreds of police complaints have been lodged against Moitra across the state.
"This is the last time we will tolerate people using derogatory terms against Hindu deities in Bengal. Next time, we will not give anyone a chance to speak against our gods and goddesses. We will not stop protesting until she holds her ears and apologises," Suvendu Ahikari told India Today.
Slamming the ruling TMC, he said, "It is up to the TMC to decide what steps to take. Trinamool is a company, not a political party. It is powered by pariwarwad. Ask the TMC chief what she plans to do."
"All Hindus from the CPI(M), TMC, and BJP are ready to unite in opposition to this. We will protest and protect our Hindu dharma," he added.
Earlier in the day, the Bengal BJP leadership sought the arrest of Moitra for allegedly hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus with her controversial remarks.
The party said it would move the court alleging police inaction if no measure was initiated against her in 10 days.
