BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, Deoghar bureaucrat fight on Twitter over airport FIR
India Today
Nine people, including BJP's Nishikant Dubey, Manoj Tiwari and the director of the Deoghar airport, have been charged with endangering the life and safety of others and criminal trespass.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and the deputy commissioner (DC) of Jharkhand’s Deoghar Manjunath Bhajantri got into a heated war of words on Twitter, a day after an FIR was registered by the state police against the parliamentarian, his colleague Manoj Tiwari and seven others on September 1 for allegedly forcing Deoghar airport officials to clear their take-off the night of August 31. The Deoghar airport, which was inaugurated by PM Modi in July, has no ‘night take-off or landing facility’.
A delegation of the BJP leaders were in Dumka to meet the family of the girl who was allegedly set ablaze by her stalker, Shahrukh. They were on their way out of the state when the incident took place.
Bhajantri accused the BJP leader of having “breached national security” by bypassing safety regulations and forcibly getting clearance for his flight.
“I’d suggest you study aviation rules again. As an IAS officer, the nation expects better from you. Now the matter is under investigation at all possible levels, please comment further only after reading aviation and airport rules carefully henceforth,” came Dubey’s retort.
Not one to back down, Bhajantri replied: “Hon’ble MP sir, thank you for the advice. I will read more on this. Never imagined that, inside a DGCA-certified airport’s most sensitive and high-security area - the ATC, children and supporters could gain access.”
“This is the way a criminal forcibly breaks through the security cordon without permission. In what capacity did you enter the airport? Who gave you permission to watch CCTV? You are frustrated. Continue to flatter the chief minister and stay cool,” Dubey continued. “The passengers included me, my brother Manoj Tiwari, Kapil Mishra, Neelkant Bakshi, Sunil Tiwari and my two sons. The safety of which passenger was at risk? This is called being a victim of Stockholm Syndrome,” he further wrote.
Soon, the DC responded: “Hon’ble MP sir, I entered the airport terminal after taking a legitimate entry pass. The DC is also a member of the Board of Directors of Deoghar Airport.”
