Neil Somaiya, son of BJP leader Kirit Somaiya, has approached the Mumbai sessions court with an anticipatory bail application which will be heard on February 28.
Recently, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut held press conferences making various allegations against Kirit Somaiya claiming that Neil was also involved in various financial dealings.
Malik, a minister in the Sena-NCP-Congress coalition government, was arrested in connection with a money laundering case linked to fugitive underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim.
It is because of this that Neil Somaiya fears arrest and has thus prayed that in case an FIR is registered against him, then he should be given a 72-hour notice before arrest.
Last week Raut had demanded the arrest of Kirit Somaiya and his son for their alleged links to the multi-crore Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank fraud case. Raut alleged that Neil Somaiya, the BJP leader’s son, is a business partner of Rakesh Wadhwan, an accused in the PMC bank fraud.
“Kirit Somaiya is a fraud. They have embezzled people’s money by committing bank scams. His son is working as a director in the company of the mastermind of the PMC scam. They have set up projects worth thousands of crores, like Nikon Phase One and Two. This is all money in PMC Bank,” he had said.
Raut had said that he would be submitting relevant documents to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for the necessary action to be taken. However, till date no case has been registered against Somaiyas on the basis of the newly levelled allegations.
