BJP challenges CM Revanth Reddy to dissolve Assembly or seek re-election, criticizes Congress government's performance.
The BJP has challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to dissolve the Assembly and seek a fresh mandate if he is so confident about his government’s performance. Or, the Chief Minister should at least seek re-election from Kodangal Assembly constituency since he had lost the segment during the Parliament elections, saidlegislature party leader A. Maheshwar Reddy on Thursday.
Addressing a press conference at the State office on Thursday, he slammed the Chief Minister for his “irresponsible” comments on Prime Minister Modi during the Congress Party conclave in Ahmedabad and said it is to “save his post” and score “brownie” points from his leader Rahul Gandhi. The BJP leader has accused Mr. Reddy of criticising Mr. Modi, “who is above his grade in every aspect”, to cover up his government failures.
The Chief Minister has mortgaged the ‘self-respect’ of Telangana at the feet of Mr. Gandhi and hence, has no moral right to speak about the Central government or about his party. “Mr. Reddy’s incompetence has led to unconstitutional persons like Congress party in-charge Meenakashi Natarajan reviewing official policies in the Secretariat with the ministers. Is this the respect the ruling party has for the Constitution?,” charged the BJP LP leader.
Mr. Maheshwar Reddy sought a public debate on the performance of the Congress government in the last 15 months including the “failure” to implement the six guarantees and various other promises. Telangana people will not allow Mr. Reddy to move around freely having “cheated” every section, he said and dared Mr. Gandhi to visit University of Hyderabad (UoH) now.
Earlier, chief spokesperson N.V. Subash sought to remind the Chief Minister that the BJP not only bagged eight Assembly seats in 2023 but followed it up by winning eight Lok Sabha seats, including Malkajgiri, earlier held by the latter. In recently concluded MLC elections the BJP won two of three seats which includes Congress’ sitting seat. “Mr. Revanth Reddy‘s grandstanding is nothing more than political theatrics to appease his high command and mask the deepening cracks within the Congress,” he said.
People are not buying the Congress circus anymore, the Chief Minister can keep making hollow declarations, but the reality on the ground is plain — the Congress is sinking, and the BJP is on the rise, he added in a press release.
