The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday accused Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) workers of removing PM Modi's photograph from a Tamil Nadu panchayat office.
A huge political storm has erupted in Tamil Nadu after Veppathur Town Panchayat chairman Anjammal allegedly removed a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the civic body office.
According to reports, BJP councillor S Chandrasekaran of the town panchayat handed over a photograph of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Executive Officer Latha on April 6. The councillor had asked that the photograph be displayed at the civic body office by the Executive Officer.
However, on April 12, newly elected Veppathur Town Panchayat chairman Anjammal, accompanied by her husband Mathiazhagan, removed the photograph and returned it to the Executive Officer.
Sharing the video on Twitter, BJP leader CTR Nirmal Kumar said, "This Mathiyalagan who is working staff in union office had also warned municipality secretary not to keep PM picture in govt offices."
