A viral video purportedly shows a statue of BR Ambedkar and photos of Ram Vilas Paswan tossed on the road while the latter's ministerial bungalow was being evicted last week. The clip has Bihar leaders across party lines up in arms.
Cutting across party lines, there is massive outrage among political leaders in Bihar over the manner in which the official bungalow of former Union minister late Ram Vilas Paswan was vacated earlier this week by the central government.
What has infuriated political parties more is a viral video which purportedly shows a statue of BR Ambedkar and photographs of Ram Vilas Paswan being tossed on the roadside while eviction was underway at the ministerial bungalow on 12 Janpath in Delhi.
The late Union minister’s son Chirag Paswan has expressed his disappointment over the manner in which the bungalow, which was occupied by his family for more than three decades, was vacated by the centre.
Now, Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav and former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi have also come out in support of Chirag Paswan, and slammed the Centre for insulting the Dalit community by throwing the statue of BR Ambedkar and photographs of the senior Paswan on the road while the eviction took place earlier this week.
Tweeting the viral video, Tejashwi Yadav said, “The central government team that went to vacate the Delhi residence of late Ram Vilas Paswan, who was a benefactor and advocate of the underprivileged, threw the statue of Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Ambedkar and pictures of Padma Bhushan Ram Vilas Paswan on the road in a derogatory manner".
