A woman doctor has taken to the streets of Katihar in Bihar to protest against her estranged husband, accusing him of neglectful behaviour and indulging in an extra-marital affair.
Dr Renu Prabha, who works at Darbhanga Medical College, travelled to Katihar to confront her husband Santosh, also a doctor, and created a ruckus outside his workplace at Katihar Medical College.
Speaking to reporters, Dr Renu claimed that Santosh refuses to acknowledge her as his wife. Despite being married for the last five years and having a child, her husband has neglected her. She alleged that he is having an extra-marital relationship and, therefore, wants nothing to do with her.
After being apprised of the matter, Kolkata-based NGO Mahila Vikas Manch has intervened and taken up Dr Renu’s cause. Activists joined her in Katihar and campaigned for the wife’s rights, while also attempting to broker peace between the estranged duo.
A spokesperson of the Mahila Vikas Manch said efforts are being made to reconcile the couple, but so far no headway has been made as Santosh is refusing to discuss the matter.
Dr Renu has now accused her husband of assault and has threatened to take him to court for his alleged infidelity and willful neglect.
The high-voltage drama playing out between the doctor couple has become a topic of discussion in Katihar Medical College during Valentine's week.
