In Bihar's Begusarai, a veterinary doctor was allegedly kidnapped and forcefully married. The family of the vet have filed a police complaint and a further investigation into the matter is underway.
A veterinary doctor was allegedly kidnapped and forced to marry a woman in the Begusarai district. The family members of the victim alleged that he was called by the resident of a neighboring village on the pretext of treating livestock and was allegedly abducted and forcefully married to a woman.
The incident has been reported from Pidhauli village under Teghra police station limits. The victim's father, Subodh Kumar Jha, has filed a police complaint against three people in connection with the incident.
He claimed that his son Satyam Kumar, who is a veterinary doctor, was called by Vijay Singh, a resident of Hasanpur village. Vijay then kidnapped Satyam and forced him to marry a woman, his father said. Police have launched a manhunt for the victim but are yet to make a breakthrough in the case.
Meanwhile, a video has now surfaced in which Satyam could be purportedly seen sitting in a temple wearing a groom's costume and performing marriage rituals with a woman. In the video, Satyam can be seen next to a woman who is dressed as a bride. An old man can also be seen chanting mantras and the couple are holding each other's hands. The video of Satyam, in a nuptial knot with a woman, has gone viral on social media.
However, it is still not clear whether Satyam was wedded forcefully or if he tied the knot according to his will. Though the police have filed a complaint, no arrests had been made till the filing of this report.
The family members have not been able to connect with the victim and police are trying to find out his whereabouts.
Begusarai SP, Yogendra Kumar, said, "In Bihar's Begusarai, the tradition of Pakadua Vivah started in the 1970s but later on, incidents of forced marriages were curbed. We have received information from the family of a veterinary doctor that he was abducted and forcefully married. The man's father has filed a police complaint and we are investigating the matter from all angles."
