The Economic Offenses Unit has arrested the principal of a government college in Bihar's Gaya for his involvement in the BPSC paper leak case.
The special investigation team (SIT) of the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) has arrested the principal of Gaya’s Ram Sharan Singh Evening College for his involvement in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) paper leak case.
The accused principal, Shakti Kumar, also runs a school and is politically well-connected.
Kumar was the organisation secretary of Upendra Kushwaha's party, Rashtriya Lok Samta Party, which later merged with the Janata Dal-United. So, Shakti Kumar is now a Janata Dal leader.
During the investigation, the EOU team found that the BPSC preliminary exam centre was at Ram Sharan Singh Evening College and principal Shakti Kumar was the centre superintendent of the examination.
When the question paper reached the centre through a Flying Squad at 10:15 am, Kumar scanned the paper and linked it via his mobile phone.
It is the biggest arrest so far in the 67th BPSC paper leak case. Kumar sent the scanned documents through his WhatsApp to Kapil Dev, a clerk in the central government office in Prayagraj and a resident of Gaya, at 10:30 am. However, Dev, who was involved in the examination, is on the run.
According to EOU sources, the three accused arrested from Delhi had obtained question papers from Kapil Dev.
