Bihar: Land mafia sells off government health facility in Muzaffarpur, probe ordered
India Today
A probe has been ordered after the land mafia allegedly sold off a government health care facility in Bihar's Muzaffarpur. The villagers have appealed to the district administration that the hospital should not be shut down.
The land mafia in Bihar allegedly sold off a government health care centre constructed in 1975, prompting the villagers to seek action against them. The incident has been reported from Muraul village under Jamura panchayat block in Kudni bringing the actions of the land mafia under the scanner once again.
The incident came to light when the Circle Officer received a request for approval of settlement documents related to the healthcare centre.
As per the initial information, one Gopal Sharan Singh donated one acre of land in 1975 and a portion of which was being used as a health centre.
A further probe into the scam revealed that the land mafia sold off 36 decimal of land and the villagers came to know about the new registry in February.
The infuriated villagers have now requested the district administration to keep the hospital operational to cater to their needs. Kudni CO has rejected the approval request as many villagers use this facility for medical treatment.
The present facility also has an auxiliary nurse hybrid commonly known as ANM and an AYUSH healthcare centre. Villager Sushila Devi said that the government healthcare facility had many female doctors and hospital staff for medical treatment of the villagers. We request the government not to allow this hospital to shut down, she added.
Echoing similar sentiments, other villagers have also demanded that the hospital should be allowed to run in the area as they lack sufficient money to go to other places for treatment.
