
Bihar: Five of family killed, two injured as car carrying marriage party falls into river

A car carrying a marriage party lost control and fell into a river in Bihar's Navinpur area on Saturday, killing five people on the spot. Two people injured in the mishap are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
At least five members of a family were killed and two others were seriously injured on Saturday night when a car carrying a marriage party fell into a river in Bihar's Navinpur police station area. Around seven people of the marriage party, all residents of Jharkhand's Palamu, were returning from Baghi village in Tol Panchayat to Chhatarpur in Palamu district when the car lost its balance and fell into a river.
Police said five people died on the spot and two others are undergoing treatment at a hospital. Initial information revealed that a car with registration number MH02BP - 365 carrying seven people rammed into a bridge and fell into a river, leading to the mishap.
The deceased have been identified as Ranjit Kumar, Abhay Kumar, Akshay Kumar, Shubham Kumar and Bablu Kumar, who died on the spot. The other two injured people, identified as Ganjan Kumar and Mukesh Kumar, have been referred to Varanasi for further medical treatment.
Police officials reached the accident spot an hour after the information was received. Police have taken the bodies into their possession and have sent them for a post-mortem examination in Aurangabad.
