The Bihar BJP has demanded inclusion of epics Ramayan and Mahabharat in the curricula across state's schools and colleges.
The Bihar unit of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded inclusion of epics Ramayan (or Ramcharitmanas) and Mahabharat in the curricula in state's schools and colleges. The Bihar BJP aims to emulate the Madhya Pradesh's example.
Recently, Madhya Pradesh government made Ramcharitmanas and Mahabharat parts of syllabus for engineering students in the state. Ramcharitmanas, composed by poet Tulsidas tells the story of Lord Ram, and is considered an Awadhi adaptation of Sanskrti epic Ramayan, composed by sage Valmiki. Mahabharat tells the story of the Great War fought between the Pandavas and the Kaurvas at Kurukshetra in pre-historic period.
