The Biden administration announced plans to allow development of wind energy off the coast of Calfornia for the first time, in a step towards achieving its goal of generating 30 gigawatts of offshore wind energy by 2030.
The announcement is another move from the Biden administration to make good on President Joe Biden's target of 30 gigawatts of offshore wind energy by 2030, a goal that would generate enough energy to power 10 million homes, according to the administration. It also expects these developments to support more than 75,000 jobs. The administration identified two areas slated for offshore wind development. One is a 399-square-mile region near Morro Bay, in central California. The other is off the coast of Humboldt County near the Oregon coast.Senate Democrats have confirmed some of President Joe Biden’s picks for the federal bench this week in the face of President-elect Donald Trump’s calls for a total GOP blockade of judicial nominations – in part because several Republicans involved with the Trump transition process have been missing votes.
