The Biden administration's use of parole to allow in migrants remains under scrutiny from Republicans, even as illegal encounters at the southern border decrease.
The other is the parole processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans. Under that program, migrants with sponsors can apply for authorization without heading to the border and fly or transport themselves into the U.S. once approved and vetted. The administration released statistics on Monday showing that nearly 530,000 nationals from those four countries have been granted parole through the end of August 2024.
