The man said that his family had been taking care of Jay Stambh for six generations, and he authored a book giving out details of the war after thorough research from the archives.
A man belonging to the family that maintains the Jay Stambh in Bhima Koregaon has approached the Bombay high court seeking police protection after he received several threats over his new book.
The book ‘1 January 1818 Koregaon Bhima Ladhaiche Vastav (facts of the battle of Koregaon Bhima)’ was launched on January 18.
Petitioner Rohan Jamadar (Malvadkar) stated that he is a descendant of Khandojibin Jamadar who was given a piece of land in Bhima Koregaon to maintain the Jay Stambh (a monument erected in 1824 by the British Empire as a tribute to the men who died in the battle of Bhima Koregaon against the Peshwas six years earlier). Khandojibin Jamadar was appointed soldier in the battle.

In his petition, Rohan stated that his family owned the land for six generations and had been taking care of the Jay Stambh, and he authored a book giving out details of the war after thorough research from the archives. He also alleged that an attempt was being made by certain organisations and the Maharashtra government through its instrumentality to dispossess the Jamadar family from the said land.
"He (the petitioner) has time and again sought to bust the constant propaganda of caste hatred, which portrays persons belonging to particular castes as oppressors and oppressed. Such portrayal furthers stereotypes," the petition, filed by Advocate Sudhanva Bedekar, stated.
Since the book's release, he has been subjected to life threats and threats to file false complaints under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
