BHC directs contractors to appear before court over delay in installation of CCTVs in police stations

The installation work should have been completed within 22 weeks from the date of their contract last year. The two pvt contractors have now sought 16 weeks to complete the work.
Bombay high court has directed two private contractors selected by the Maharashtra government for installing CCTV cameras in police stations to appear before them on Friday to explain the delay in completing the work.
This came after the court was informed that only half the installation work has been done so far while the time granted to do the job is over.
The bench of Justices SJ Kathawalla and Milind Jadhav has been hearing a petition that challenged an arbitrary notice issued by the Sinnar Police Station in Maharashtra.

The notice was issued under Section 149 (prevention of cognisable offence) of the Code of Criminal Procedure to maintain law and order following threats that were issued to the complainants by the petitioners.
The bench had been handed out a report on the progress of the installation work, which was being done by two contractors, Sujata Computers Pvt Ltd, Pune and Javi Systems India Pvt Ltd, Bengaluru.
The two contractors had to execute the installation project and look after the maintenance of all CCTVs and instruments for five years, with effect from August 6, 2021.
