Actor Shatrughan Sinha remembered Lata Mangeshkar and called her a 'Bharat Ratna in a true sense'. The legendary singer passed away on February 6.
Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar breathed her last on February 6. She was 92. Actor Shatrughan Sinha remembered the melody queen and called her “Bharat Ratna in a true sense”.
Lata Mangeshkar was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 2001.
In a conversation with Rajdeep Sardesai on India Today TV, the actor said that Lata Mangeshkar’s death is an irreparable and irreplaceable loss. “Lata ji’s songs will always be immortal, but her personality will also remain immortal," he said.
He also added that she was not only the favourite of music directors and singers, but former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also fond of her. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi also wished her on her birthday. It is also being said he might attend her funeral,” Shatrughan Sinha said while speaking about Lata Mangeshkar’s remarkable personality.

He also remembered recording the song Aa Bata De Tujhe Kaise Jiya Jata Hai with her and Mohd Rafi. Shatrughan Sinha also lent his voice to the song from the film Dost. “Jo atmosphere dekha, Lata ji ki shaan dekhi, ekdum itna sannata. Lata ji relax baithi hui hain, chaai pee rahi hain. Uske baad uthi, aur ek take mein gaaya,” he said while remembering the unforgettable experience of recording the song with the legendary singer. "Even Mohd Rafi had to give a few takes, but Lata ji did it in one take," he added.
