Srirama Navami festival to be celebrated on April 10
A ‘prachara ratham’ (motorised chariot) resembling the historic Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple design is all set to hog the limelight during the ensuing fortnight-long Srirama Navami Brahmotsavam scheduled to be held in Bhadrachalam from April 2 to 16, 2022.
Sri Sitarama Kalyana Mahotsavam is slated to be held in the famous temple on the occasion of Srirama Navami festival on April 10.
The prachara ratham was formally flagged off by the Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy during the Srirama Navami fete held in a low-key manner due to the coronavirus threat in the temple town last year, according to temple sources.
The motorised chariot was designed at a workshop in Hyderabad to serve as the temple’s prachara ratham to highlight the glorious history of the temple built by renowned saint composer Bhakta Ramadasu (Kancharla Gopanna), the then local tahsildar, in the 17th century.
However, the ambitious plans of the temple authorities to send the prachara ratham to various parts of Bhadrachalam Agency and elsewhere in the State to propagate the temple’s history and organise kalyanams could not take off on desired lines due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
