Bhabanipur bypoll to take place as per schedule, says Calcutta High Court

Election to the Bhabanipur seat, where West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is contesting, is scheduled on September 30.

The Calcutta High Court said the bye-election for Bhabanipur assembly seat, which is being contested by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, would take place as per schedule on September 30.

However, the court passed strong remarks on the conduct of the chief secretary for his letter to the Election Commission citing the emergency in holding the election in Bhabanipur constituency "considering the constitutional exigency".
