Beypore International Water Festival featured angling, boat race, surfing, food festival, kite festival, and more attractions.
Angling, country boat race, and surfing were some of the major attractions at the Beypore International Water Festival that concluded on Sunday (January 5).
Around 80 participants took part in the angling competition in the morning, with winners determined by the number of fish caught. The surfing demonstration in the sea was performed by five expert surfers from the Aventure Surfing Club at Gotheeswaram.
The country boat race had nine teams battling on the 300-metre stretch of Chaliyar, drawing their energy from the cheering crowd.
Thousands gathered at the beach and breakwater to watch the water sports competitions and demonstrations, with the presence of many differently abled children sparking curiosity. The 55 children from Buds Schools at Ramanattukara and Feroke had come mainly to see the two ships docked at the port. Mayor Beena Philip welcomed them with sweets and cake.
The food festival at Parisons Ground, the kite festival on the beach, the drone show, and the flying board and paramotoring demonstrations were also widely appreciated by visitors.
The festival concluded in the evening with an illuminated boat parade and a procession through Beypore town. Actors Soubin Shahir, Basil Joseph, and Vineeth Sreenivasan were the guests of honour at the valedictory function.
