A 10-lane stretch from Bengaluru to Mysuru is likely to be ready by December 2022, said Minister for Public Works Department, Govt of Karnataka, C C Patil in the Legislative Council on Wednesday.
The long-awaited road project- a 10-lane stretch from Bengaluru to Mysuru is likely to be ready by December 2022.
According to a report published in the Deccan Herald (DH), Minister for Public Works Department, Govt of Karnataka, C C Patil on Wednesday said the work on the stretch is expected to be completed by December this year, adding that a committee will be constituted to inspect the quality of the underpass and service roads on this stretch.
Executed at an estimated cost of Rs 7,400 crore, the work from Bengaluru to Nidaghatta is likely to be completed by May, whereas the stretch from Nidaghatta to Mysuru is expected to be completed in September, added Patil.
As per reports by the Times of India (TOI), after the work on the stretch is over, the travel time between Bengaluru and Mysuru is expected to come down to 90 minutes, from the present 180 minutes, resolving connectivity issues.
Started in May and December 2019, the 10-lane Bengaluru-Mysuru highway has missed quite a few deadlines due to the outbreak of Covid-19. The project was first announced in 2014 and the work was supposed to start in 2018 and be completed by 2020 in 30 months’ time.
However, the project was hit by the Covid-19 induced lockdown and the deadline was again revised in 2021.
