Based on a complaint, the police charged Dr. Sagar Ballal under Section 325 (mischief committed by killing, poisoning, or rendering an animal useless) of BNS.
Adugodi police have registered an FIR against a Bengaluru-based doctor for allegedly killing a stray dog by throwing it from the third floor of his apartment on April 22.
Based on a complaint filed by Ayush Bhattacharjee, a student, the police charged Dr. Sagar Ballal under Section 325 (mischief committed by killing, poisoning, or rendering an animal useless) of BNS.
The doctor, according to the complainant, is a resident of Brindavan apartment at Lakkasandra. He was not happy with the stray dog, named Scooby, staying in the terrace of the apartment and being taken care of by other residents. He had allegedly attempted to kill the dog on February 5 by throwing it down from the third floor.
The complainant noticed the dog bleeding and writhing in pain and took it to a hospital for treatment. The dog had sustained an injury on the spinal cord, and was under treatment for two months. After recovery, the dog was brought back to the apartment, and was under the care of the residents.
On April 20, the residents heard a loud sound. On checking, they suspected that the dog had fallen on a car parked on the roadside, whose windshield was damaged. The owner of the car filed a complaint against Dr. Ballal for damaging the car.
Some residents of the apartment allegedly noticed Dr. Ballal going inside his apartment and slamming the door shut. Some residents went to question him while others rushed the dog to a hospital where the animal succumbed to its injuries.
The complainant alleged that the doctor is named in another case of killing a dog in Madhya Pradesh in April 2024.

There are two instances where the government has shifted out such establishments out of the core city areas. The APMC yard, which was operating out of N.T. Pet, was shifted to Yeshwanthpur in the late 1980s, and HAL airport was shut down for passenger traffic and a new airport was built near Devanahalli.
