Bengali actress Rupanjana Mitra lashed out at Rupankar Bagchi for his insensitive comment about KK.
Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, after a power-packed performance in Kolkata. His demise left netizens in a state of utter shock. He was 53. Now, a Bengali singer has become the centre of attention for his comments on the popular playback singer hours before his death. Rupankar Bagchi is being brutally trolled for his comment, “Who is KK? We are better singers than him.”
Bengali actress Rupanjana Mitra has lashed out at Bagchi for his “insensitive” comment about the late singer. “Shame on you Mr. Rupankar Bagchi!!! You are nothing but a selfish soul,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “First rectify your narrow-mindedness and then compare yourself to KK. You have no right to belittle a singer like him. Yes, I am a KK fan and tremendously hurt by how you expressed your jealousy,” she stated.

It all started when Rupankar Bagchi grabbed the attention of netizens with his remark about KK during a Facebook Live session. “After watching the videos of KK’s performance, I realised, that the singers in Bengal who have reached KK’s level can never think of expecting the hysteria revolving around KK. Anupam Roy, Iman Chakraborty, Raghav Chattopadhyay, and even bands like Cactus and Fossils. "After listening to his songs, I realised that we all sing better than KK. What is the hype? It's like KK, KK, KK Who is K? We are better than any K,” Rupankar said during the Live session on Facebook.
KK collapsed at the Grand Hotel in Kolkata after returning from the concert and was rushed to a private hospital in the city. He was pronounced dead at Kolkata's CMRI Hospital around 10 pm. He performed for the last time at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata.
