Many TMC supporters unhappy with the candidate list released by the party for the February 27 civic polls held protests in many places across West Bengal on Friday.
Massive protests erupted across West Bengal on Friday after the Trinamool Congress (TMC) released its list of candidates for elections to 108 municipalities scheduled on February 27.
Many TMC supporters unhappy with the candidate list staged demonstrations in many places across the state.
Senior party leader and state fisheries minister Akhil Giri wished to resign from his post or as an election convener for East Midnapore district as his supporters held protests in front of his residence in Kanthi.

"We are unhappy with the candidate list. Those who are still with BJP have been nominated as TMC candidates," Giri alleged.
In North 24 Parganas district, many TMC supporters on Friday evening also blocked the roads and rail tracks for several hours.
Agitations were also seen in Hoogly district late in the evening. Even the districts of Cooch Behar, Murshidabad, Bankura and Purulia also reported similar protests.
