'Bengal's daughter' returns as Bhabanipur hands Mamata Banerjee massive win

Mamata Banerjee, who lost the Nandigram constituency to her bete noire Suvendu Adhikari in the April-March assembly election, had to win this bypoll to retain the chief minister's post.

TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee won the Bhabanipur bypoll by a massive margin against her nearest rival, BJP's Priyanka Tibrewal, as the South Kolkata constituency chose its 'ghorer meye' (Bengal's daughter).

Mamata Banerjee maintained a comfortable lead in all the rounds of counting of votes, winning the seat by a margin of 58,832 votes.
