Bengal, Northeast to witness heavy rain in coming days, alert issued

The India Meteorology Department has predicted heavy rainfall in the northeastern states. The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in parts of West Bengal.
Heavy rainfall is predicted in the northeastern states for the next five days. The India Meteorology Department's Regional Meteorology Centre (RMC) has declared an orange alert in the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya for September 2 and 3.
According to officials of RMC, the monsoon will travel from Amritsar, Rohtak, Bareilly, and Banaras to reach Nagaland, Assam and later, would head to Bangladesh.
Under this effect, Assam and other northeastern states are predicted to witness strong winds, heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued for the northeastern states of Nagaland, Tripura, Manipur and Mizoram.
The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall on September 3 in West Bengal's Cooch Behar, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, and Darjeeling.
The country has been facing heavy rainfall this year. Most states like Karnakata, West Bengal, and Maharashtra witnessed incessant rain, disrupting daily affairs.
The (IMD) on Thursday also had issued an alert for Bengal as heavy to very heavy rainfall was predicted for the next few days. Darjeeling in Bengal and Sikkim witnessed multiple landslides due to the continuous rain.
