The Bengal BJP unit staged a protest in front of Bowbazar police station on Saturday and demanded action against Trinamool Congress MP Mohua Moitra over her Kali remark.
The row over Trinamool leader Mahua Moitra's remark on Goddess Kali heated up again on Saturday, with the BJP taking to the streets once more.
After Tanuja Chakraborty, president of Bengal BJP Mahila Morcha, filed a complaint against Mahua Moitra at Kolkata's Bowbazar police station, the BJP claimed police inaction and protested.
A group of BJP women supporters led by Tanuja Chakraborty staged a protest against police inaction over Mahua Moitra's Kali remark.
The BJP lodged a complaint against TMC MP Mahua Moitra on July 6. However, they claimed that the police refused to file an FIR.
"We demand the police should take action against Mahua Moitra. We lodged a complaint on July 6. Why did they not take any action against her? Police are acting as TMC's men," she said.
Protesters even set fire to Mahua Moitra's effigy in front of the police station.
A large police presence was also deployed at the police station's entrance to prevent any unruly incidents.
