The West Bengal Assembly passed a resolution against the “excesses of central agencies”. The TMC-led Bengal government's move comes at a time when several party leaders are under the ED and the CBI scanner.
The West Bengal Assembly on Monday passed a resolution against "excesses of central agencies" in the state. The BJP had opposed the move, saying such a "resolution against the CBI and ED" is against the rules and regulations of the Assembly.
The resolution was passed through division, with 189 voting in favour of it and 69 against.
West Bengal CM and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee said, "The present union government is behaving in a dictatorial way. This resolution is not against anyone in particular, but against the biased functioning of the central agencies.”

Mamata Banerjee added that she doesn't believe that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is behind the alleged excesses of central agencies in the state and blamed a section of the BJP leaders for misusing them to serve their interests.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said such a "resolution against the CBI and ED" is against the rules and regulations of the Assembly.
The TMC-led Bengal government’s move comes at a time when several party leaders, including former ministers, are being investigating by the ED and the CBI in connection with corruption cases. Former Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee has been arrested in connection with the SSC scam, while Anubrata Mondal has been arrested in a cattle smuggling case.
