BRUSSELS: Belgium's daily COVID-19 cases have jumped to the highest level in almost a year, prompting health experts to say that a fourth wave of infections has begun.
Data from the Sciensano health institute showed on Friday that the country registered nearly 6,500 new cases on Oct. 18. That is as many as on Nov. 10, 2020, a few days before the government imposed a second lockdown.
The seven-day daily average stood at more than 3,600, a rise of nearly 60% from the previous week.
