Beaches house gutted by fire

Firefighters battled a significant house fire in the Beaches early Friday.
Crews were called to a semi-detached residence on Kippendavie Avenue, near Woodbine Avenue and Queen Street E., shortly before 4 a.m.
They arrived to find the home engulfed in flames. The blaze eventually reached three-alarm status which resulted in 32 fire trucks being sent to the scene, according to Toronto Fire.
"The fire spread through the entire house," said Division Commander Steven Darling. He added two adjacent properties were also exposed to fire, but crews managed to largely contain damage to the one home.
The fire was considered under control by about 7 a.m.
Paramedics transported one person from the scene for treatment of minor injuries, but said it may not have been related to the fire.
No other injuries were reported and all five people within the heavily damaged home got out safely, Darling said. A total of four other people were forced to leave the adjacent properties.
Neighbours said it appeared the fire broke out on the main floor of the home and spread quickly, according to Darling.
An electric vehicle was also damaged by the fire. Darling said it doesn't appear the vehicle had anything to do with how the blaze started, but the fire's origins are still under investigation.
