Beach and temple tourism set to witness massive boost: Bommai

Beach and temple Tourism are bound to witness exponential growth in the coming days, said Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Monday while adding the Government has urged the Centre to bring in necessary changes to the Coastal Regulation Zone norms.
He was speaking after inaugurating Dr. V.S. Acharya Bus Terminal built by the Mangaluru Division of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation in Udupi.
Mr. Bommai, who once was Udupi district in-charge Minister, said the Government was according priority for the overall development of the district.
While work on the 250-bed district government hospital has already commenced, the district would get a medical college on public-private partnership basis shortly. Sufficient funds were released for drinking water and underground drainage works, he said. The Government was committed for the economic development of the coast.
Mr. Bommai directed KSRTC to ensure punctuality in bus operations. Private operators were giving efficient service in coastal region and KSRTC should strive hard to improve its services. The government would soon decide on building two multiplexes in the bus terminal premises, he added.
Transport Minister B. Sriramulu, Ministers S. Angara and Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat, and others were present.
