‘Be prepared’: Centre issues advisory to states amid ongoing heat wave

The Centre on Sunday issued an advisory to the states amid the rising temperatures and ongoing heatwave in the country.
The Central government on Sunday in a written letter to the states, asked them to implement the advisory issued by the Ministry of Health amid the rising temperatures and heatwave in the country.
The Union Health secretary Rajesh Bhushan asked the states to disseminate the daily heat alerts shared by the India Meterological Department (IMD) as well as the National Centre for Disease Control promptly at the district level.
Bhushan also asked the states to focus on the ‘National Action Plan on Heat-related Illnesses’ and disseminate the same at the district level.
Bhushan asked the states to make sure of the availability of sufficient drinking water at all health facilities and the continued functioning of cooling appliances in critical areas.
The Health secretary further said that health facility preparedness should be reviewed for adequate availability of essential medicines, IV fluids, ice packs, ORS and all necessary items.
