Amra Ram Godara, a 30-year-old activist from Rajasthan's Barmer district, has alleged that his life is under continuous threat after the grievous attack last year in December.
The 30-year old RTI activist from Rajasthan's Barmer district, who survived a gruesome attack in December last year, has been forced to sit at the Shahid smarak in Jaipur.
Amra Ram Godara was allegedly attacked after he sought information under the Right to information (RTI) Act about the developmental work that was supposed to be carried out in the village by the panchayat.
According to him, he was attacked by several people who had political links and were not happy with him seeking information regarding financial expenditure by the village sarpanch regarding developmental work in the village.
"I had sought information regarding expenditure by the panchayat under the RTI. Those who were unhappy with me seeking information got the attack orchestrated on me. There were several people who attacked me and left me believing me to be dead. Some of the accused are still at large " Godara said.
The state government had given a compensation of Rs 2 lakh to Godara, which social rights activists claim is not enough given the gravity of the injuries sustained by him.
Godara and social rights activists claim that he was brutally beaten up, nails pierced into his legs and was left after the accused thought him to be dead.
At the Shaheed smarak in Jaipur, where Godara has been camping seeking justice, he shows pictures of the grievous injuries he sustained in December last year.
