
Bangalore schools to reopen from Jan 31

As per a meeting today, Bangalore schools will reopen from January 31.
Bangalore schools will be reopened from January 31, Monday, and classes will be conducted with all Covid-19 guidelines in place, it was decided at a meeting today. As part of the relaxations to be implemented, the night curfew will also be lifted and gym entry will be allowed at 50 percent capacity. Marriage ceremonies can have 300 guests.
The Karnataka government was supposed to make a decision on reopening Bangalore schools today. On January 27, State Education Minister BC Nagesh had said that he would ask for the cabinet’s opinion regarding when Bangalore schools should be reopened and that a date would be decided after a meeting with the Covid-19 Technical Advisory Committee.
Karnataka schools had earlier reopened after Covid-19 cases had started to decline but due to the third wave, schools had to be closed again post a January 4 meeting.
Initially, educational institutions had been closed for two weeks but the duration was extended after that.
BC Nagesh had earlier said that the education department was ready to conduct classes if Classes 1 to 9 were allowed for physical classes again.
Bangalore reported 15,199 new Covid-19 cases on Friday while Karnataka reported 31,198 cases along with 50 deaths. The positivity rate of the state stood at 20.91 percent.
As Covid-19 cases are going down again, schools are reopening in various states. While Mumbai schools have reopened, Haryana schools are reopening from February 1.
