As part of engendering industry-academia collaboration, the Bamboo Corporation under the Industries Department and the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) here on Wednesday. The MoU is for research activities for manufacturing phenol from cardanol. Presiding over the signing, Industries Minister P. Rajeev said that collaboration between industries and academic institutions would be facilitated. The production of phenol from cardanol is expected to bring down the price of plywood and enhance the potential for exports.More Related News

Under the NBS, newborns are screened for communication disorders before they are discharged from the hospital. For this, AIISH has collaborated with several hospitals to conduct screening which is performed to detect hearing impairment and other developmental disabilities that can affect speech and language development. The screening has been helping in early intervention for those identified with the disorders, as any delay in the identification poses risk and affects successful management of children with hearing loss, according to AIISH.
