Former England captain Alastair Cook has reflected on his county cricket career and said that he will continue playing in the domestic tournaments till the ball hits the middle of his bat and not the pad. Cook retired from international cricket in 2018.
Former England captain Alastair Cook retired from international cricket in 2018. The southpaw scored a hundred in his last match which was played at The Oval against India. His 286-ball 147 against India in the second innings helped the hosts win the fifth and final Test by 118 runs. England gave a perfect tribute to their highest run-getter in Test cricket with a 4-1 win over the visitors. But that was not the end of Cook's illustrious cricket. He signed a new three-year deal with his county side Essex and went on to win County Championship in 2019 and then Bob Willis Trophy in the following year. The veteran of 310 first-class matches now, Alastair Cook is in the final year of his contract but he wants to continue scoring runs which is still the 'best feeling' in the world for him. The 36-year-old has reckoned that the ball is still hitting the sweet spot of his bat more often than his pad and the same reason is motivating him to stretch his career with Essex.More Related News
